Double Major: Microbiology and Nutrition

Faculty Mentor:  Dr. Julie Greenwood

I was born in Bend, Oregon. My family and I lived in San Juan Chamelco AV, Guatemala for four years and that is where I call home. When we returned to the States in 2009, I lived in McMinnville, OR until my high school graduation. I chose to come to Oregon State University because it is an exceptional research university, it has a strong College of Science and it isn’t too far away from my parent’s house. I am double majoring in Microbiology and Nutrition. For my undergraduate research I worked in Dr. Julie Greenwood’s lab with a zebrafish model to study glioblastoma (tumor) dispersal in the brain. My overall goal is to be accepted into medical school and become an anesthesiologist specialized in perioperative care, development of an anesthetic plan and the administration of anesthetics. So far, the thing I like most about OSU is the inclusive and supportive faculty, the safe environment and the programs I have been involved in: STEM Leaders Program and LSAMP Program.
