Major: Soil Science

Peer Mentor: Eni Nako

Faculty Mentor: Dr. Jennifer Parke

I was born in Oaxaca, Mexico but grew up in Oxnard, California where my parent reside. I chose Oregon State University because it offers one of the best Soil Science programs in the United States. As I alluded to earlier, my major is Soil Science, which I find fascinating. I am currently working in Dr. Jennifer Parke’s lab studying the life cycle and ecology of Phytophthora ramorum, a pathogen that causes sudden Oak death. I hope to find a career in Soil Biology or Plant Pathology with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) or in academia. One of the things I like about OSU is its proximity to the Cascade Mountains and the coast. As an outdoor enthusiast I enjoy everything outdoors like skiing, hiking, camping and fishing.
